It is such a joy to know that you have friends all over the world that when you see them after so much time has past it is like you've never been apart. When I went to shoot Antara's engagement photos in LA I was lucky enough to catch back up with some great girlfriends who made such a large impact on my life. I have been looking forward to Antara's wedding since I finally met her at her bridal shower a few months ago. I got to go out to Los Angeles to do their engagement photos and had such a great time getting to them better. Now I am SOO excited to shoot their wedding as they so fun together. We only had a few minutes of light to make this shoot happen but we found great light and had a ball!

WOW! All I can say is this family is so blessed. What a bundle of babies! I have been looking forward to hanging out and shooting these babies since I knew they were going to be coming. Not only did we shoot triplets- but we shot triplets plus big brother! What a great group! I think we dirtied every blanket that I brought and everyone Mom had too! WE LOVE BABIES! But- before baby comes belly! Pregnant women amaze me. They are in such a unique time in their lives that is so beautiful. I look at these Mother-to-be's and see such strength, beauty, unknown, and love. It is such a miracle to capture this time knowing in a few short weeks I'll get to meet the new life that was cookin' in there. Meta came to me as an artist understanding the importance of having her life reflected in art. Enjoy your art!

Nothing I love More

There is nothing I love more than a couple who trust me and gives me the freedom to capture and create. Around here most couples want their engagement photos downtown. It is true that most of the "cool" things they have seen their friends do in photos are downtown. Now- we could have been like everyone else and gone downtown and we would have come out with some amazing shots. BUT that doesn't really tell the story of this couple. They met a long time ago at a carnival. So during our consultation I told them it would be really fun to do their engagement photos at a carnival to reflect their story. At first I think they thought I was off my rocker! Even when they showed up they were a little uneasy about it- but Laura said, "we've seen your photos and we know you aren't going to make us look dumb and cheesy". Good point Laura (although she did point out how dumb I looked trying to get these shots) :)

I hate getting behind on my blogging because then I have so much good stuff to show you I get overwhelmed and don't blog! Yikes, not a good thing. So, here we go. . . time to catch up!
What can I say about this wedding except it was awesome! They had a very common problem- 2:00 mass but the reception not starting until 6. What to do during the down time? Most couples assume they have to do what they've seen all their friends do at weddings- long photo shoot somewhere and then hit a bar. This is a fine option but not if you want to be different and show your wedding party a great time. Jamie and Mark wanted to be different and they wanted their day to be fun. SO- they surprised the wedding party by taking them bowling. After Mark proposed the Jamie they went bowling- so this was the perfect tie in. What a great time and their wedding party could not have been happier about this! Way to go Mark and Jamie!!

Oh Cami- I promised I would blog your wedding but I didn't realize how hard it would be to choose only a few photos! Most of my brides tell me they want their weddings to be fun. Truthfully I do have the most fun and most beautiful brides in the area! I think this year I will have two tied for the most funI have ever been apart of (the other one I will blog next). Cami's family has a way of making you fall in love instantly and then there is the fun. THEY ARE CRAZY! (in a good way) :)
Let's just say that there were feather boas, rolling on the floor, ties around heads and the crazies limbo contest I have ever seen. I adore your photos and am so glad I was apart of your day!

Extracurricular activities: I love to sing, I am in a choir called Bel Canto outside of school. We practice 4 hours a week and travel to different places every summer such as Europe, and Mexico. I also am involved in my schools theatre program.

Favorite thing about my school: I really love how all of the teachers really care about the students and want them to do well! I also love the school spirit. :)

Favorite Hangout: I love to hang out at my friend's houses, but I have just discovered a new found love for Zorinsky Lake. I love to take my dog on walks and run there!

If I could travel anywhere, where would I go: I would go back to Paris in a heart beat. I loved the beauty, history, and culture of the City.

Plans for after highschool: I am pretty sure I am going to study musical theatre in college. I would love to be on broadway someday, but if that doesn't happen I think i will study law as my backup.

One thing my friends don't know about me: My friends and I are all very close, so we basically know everything about eachother, but some of them just recently learned that I have been a vegetarian for two years so I guess that can count! :)

Why do I love Janine Mcclintock Studios: I absolutely loved Janine Mcclintock studios because of the amazing positive energy! I had never done a photoshoot before so I was very nervous, But Mrs. Mcclintock was so encouraging and happy, that it made me feel very comfortable! I also loved how creative the locations were. Another plus was having my hair and makeup done, Toni was amazing and did exactly what I wanted! Over all, The day was an unforgetable experience and I would highly recommend Janine Mcclintock Studios for anyone wanting some amazing pictures and an awesome experience!

I spent a lovely Monday evening documenting the marriage of a very sweet couple. It was an intimate evening with only about 10 guests with an exquisite dinner afterward. The focus was on the couple and I LOVE that. When I left, the groom gave me one of the nicest compliments. He said it seemed like I had become one of their family. I love my clients so that meant a ton to me!!

I had a TON of shoots this past weekend. It seems like whenever there is a holiday I don't get one! We did have tons of fun playing when I wasn't shooting. So I will dedicate this post to the fun and we'll do the shoots next! Caleb's cousin Derek was in town. OH BOY- these two are only 3 weeks apart and are loving getting to know each other better. They played outsideat Pop and Nana's the entire weekend and they also did their first run together. Well, sort of together- Derek ran the entire 1 mile while Caleb spent at least 3/4 of his in the stroller being crabby!

Oh what a fun shoot! We had giggles, teddy bears and then ended with chocolate cake. We have a lot of clients who aren't sure what the photos will look like from a home session. Today I had the cutest job ever! These lil' darlings were great. This is the day every year that I look forward to. The kids are always VERY excited and they look so darn sweet in those costumes. I think next year we will have to give out awards for the best costumes. Here is a sneak peak of a few of the kids that we got to see. The best news is, we also raised about $500 for the Leukemia Society. YEA!!

to the studio- Baby Cole! Melissa gave birth on Friday afternoon and I had the awesome pleasure of photographing the birth. There is nothing more amazing than being able to photograph major life events for people. What is even better is that I got to photography Melissa's wedding, and now the birth of her firstborn.

I have amazing birth photographs to show- but I'm hoping to get them into slideshow form. So- we are going to work backwards and I'll show you a photo of her new lil' man.

* side note to new Moms*- I know that it is incredibly difficult to get that newborn session in during the first few days. BUT, it is SO worth it. It is only during these first days that they still roll up into a little ball and sleep like crazy.

What is the photo in my studio that gets the most comments? What is the one that everyone wishes they have? It is the shot of the three superheros! Our costume shoot it becoming one of our most popular events at the studio. We have already begun to get phone calls trying to get the date out of us! This year it will again be a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Your entire $25 sitting fee will go to help find a cure for blood related cancers. The shoot will be from 9-noon on October 18th. This year we'd love it if you made an appointment to come. Drop-ins will certainly be welcome but this should help with flow of our little kiddos and alleviate a line.

Destination Weddings

If you have ever thought that having a destination wedding would be wonderful- you are right! I would HIGHLY recommend going to Ambergris Caye, Belize and staying at the Victoria House. http://www.victoria-house.com/ It was amazing! Paige and Angelo wanted to have an intimate celebration with their friends and family and they all had such a great time. My amazing photographer friend Tyler out of Kansas City and I had a great time and he taught me all kinds of new camera things. If a destination wedding is out of the question- this would also be an awesome honeymoon!

We are almost full for portrait sessions for the rest of 2008! Melissa is on maternity leave, which means I am the only shooter to try and document all our awesome clients! I had such a great time shooting a reception in Orange City, Iowa. It is pretty much in the middle of nowhere- BUT it is where my ala mater is. So I went up with my college roomie and made a day of it. What a great time seeing all the changes- it really makes you feel old! Then I got to shoot Michelle and Brent's Iowa reception. They had gotten married in San Fransisco a few weeks earlier and this was their first of 2 (maybe 3) receptions. They played up the farm atmostphere and we got some killer portraits. Thanks!

I can't believe in just 10 days since I've blogged I've done 12 shoots- that means I have alot to blog about! I'll try to keep each entry just one shoot so you'll have to keep on checking back!

I have had such an amazing stretch of weddings. So far my 2008 weddings are on quite a roll. I've had absolutley wonderful brides who are trusting me and going along with all my crazy ideas. They have been into art and truly want artful wonderful photos. The weddings have all been very different but yet the couples, families and wedding parties have been nothing short of amazing to work with.

I've never had a wedding that had so many things go wrong. It is ever brides worst nightmare. First the flowers showed up wrong- huge disapointment. Luckily her uncle is a florist and was able to at least rearrange, fill, and remove to make them okay. Then the trolley didn't show up. That also was a huge bummer as nobody had cars. Yet, through it all Kelsi and Tim were just happy to be married and happy the day was about them- not the details. Kudos to them- they were great!

Fun-fun-fun! I had a ball shooting Brad and Janelle. I have known Brad since college and it was such a joy to get to know Janelle and see how much they cared about each other. It is always so special to be able to document such an important day in a couple's relationship but today was especially great! Janelle's parents had gotten married at the same church years earlier and are so still very happily married. What a great place to begin their marriage as well.

I have been thinking alot about Cathy since I shot her- she is gorgeous and so happy about being pregnant. She looks amazing- but what I can't figure out is how there are 2 babies in there!!! Just amazing! The babies will be joining us in about 2 weeks- so stay tuned to find out if it is 2 boys, 2 girls, or one of each!

I love these brothers as they are so full of life and just so fun to be around! It probably helps that 2 of them just finished kindergarten and I have a special place in my heart for kindergarteners! All of them are just too darn cute!

Here is the last little cutie from my spree of 6 month old girls! Her older sister is quite a little diva and I love to photograph her, so I knew this session would be fun! They brought an entire suitcase of clothing options along (which I love) but I couldn't help but go for the "natural" look. These are TOO cute!

What a gorgeous day for a wedding! It started out very windy and a bit chilly so they moved their outdoor reception indoors- but decided to brave it for the ceremony. I'm so glad they did as they clouds cleared and it was just a perfect afternoon! These guys have been dating for over 8 years! You wouldn't have known it as they were so giddy with each other. Here is our next lil' girl! Kamryn is a doll- not 6 months yet (but we still like her!) These guys live in Kansas City so we shoot when they are in town or when I go there. Lucky for me there are okay with that and didn't find a new photographer when they moved- I would miss seeing them!

I love 6 month olds! It is by far my favorite age- they are so expressive and the aren't too crazy yet! I always warn parents that the 6 month session is usually the most expensive, and it certainly doesn't help when you have an adorable older sister as well.

What a great idea! Kelly thought it would be an awesome gift, for her Mom for Mother's Day, to get a large canvas photo of all of the grandchildren in the family. It turned out so well that she is going to do it for her husband side of the family as well. I couldn't agree with her more- photos are GREAT gifts!

April and Kenny had a gorgeous (and snowy) wedding! They chose great vendors which always will help make a gorgeous day. Debbie Pitt did the flowers (can't say enough good things about her work) and they chose the Holland Performing Arts Center for the ceremony and reception. I hope I have a lot more weddings here in the future- it was great! These guys were just so much fun that I even stayed an extra hour just because I didn't want to leave! Thanks guys!

Of course I love the Evans Family- there is proof as there are a ton of their photos in my studio! Our shoot focused on the two lil' ones, Finley and Blythe. We had to get a group shot too. I went and helped shoot a wedding in KC with my good friend Tyler. It was at an amazing venue and all the details were top notch. If you are looking for ways to make your reception look amazing- bring in lighting! The room was taking people's breath away!

The title of this post sounds so bad! We actually get quite a few inquiries about shooting dogs or other pets. We love to shoot dogs. We have dog sessions, many families like a photo with their dog, couples bring dogs to engagements sessions, etc. Our biggest dog shoot is the "Dog days of Summer" shoot that we will be doing during Dundee Days in August. I had the privelege of photographing Michelle Strom's headshots last year for the Mrs. Nebraska pageant. Then she won! (Okay, we all KNEW she would!) Leah had her more traditional photos taken for the yearbook- and then she came to my studio to play and get the FUN STUFF! She was a trooper! I had her on the ground in the mud and in parking garages to get these shots. I think it was worth it because she looks great!!

I have shot a few Valentine's Day weddings over the last couple of years. Nothing quite like this year!
I was apart of a group of photographers from across the country who went to their local courthouses to document these unique weddings.
Here is one couple that I especially was fond of- although their wedding was very simple, you could see how much joy and excitement they had. Congratulations!

Jasonea is having a baby! They are going to be surprised so we don't get to know yet if it is a boy or a girl- you'll have to stay posted until April! My crazy life

It is a pretty well known fact about me that I can not only tolerate things a bit hectic and crazy but I also like it that way! Whenever my life seems to get into some sort of normalcy I stir the pot and see what happens. This time it was Annie. Annie is the LAST thing we needed in our life. But, I got an idea one day and couldn't let it go. Good thing she is awfully cute- we sure like her! You may see her at the studio as she likes to come and work on my lap.

In 2007 we heard from a few clients- okay, quite a few- that we aren't easy to get ahold of. This isn't because we are crazy aloof artists! We love families- yours and ours. As we are striving to give you the best experience possible we are trying to make us more available! First step is to let you know when we are in the studio! The studio is by appointment only- but we are there with fairly set hours.
Mondays- 2-5
Tuesdays- 11-5
Wednesdays 12-5
Thursdays- 11-5
Fridays- as needed
These hours aren't set in stone- but it gives you a good idea when you may reach us!
We also don't answer the phone when we are shooting or with clients. We want to give them our complete attention. So, please leave us a message. We will certainly return it as soon as we can.
Email is great because I (Janine) can answer them anytime time of the day!

Also- check the blog! This is where I will post anytime we have destination shoots, specials, etc.
Of course I have to post some photos- so since this post was really about loving our families- here is my not so little anymore guy!

I haven't blogged in so long as we were trying to make it through the holidays! Well, we finally made it and are so grateful to all our 2007 clients. Thank you all for allowing us to create memories for you in an artistic and meaninful way!!! WE LOVE YOU!
So, I have so much to share on the blog! So I don't get too overwhelmed I'll just try to break it up into small posts every couple of days.
First is Jackie! Jackie lives in Dundee so she found me by just walking in and looking at my albums. I knew when I met her that her maternity session would be a ton of fun. I was right! I was thrilled when she brought her Mom along for the shoot. They were obviously so close and so excited. It was great to capture that for them.
